Water has powered Gosau for over a century, running from the Gosau lakes through channels and power stations to the Hallstättersee, and almost none of that is visible to anyone passing through. WASSERWEG is a trail linking the Steeg power station, the Gosau power station, the village centre and the Hinterer Gosausee, with stations along the way covering hydropower, salt extraction, alpine sport and the seasons. It uses what is already there, built with the municipality, the power plant operators and the local sports club, and each spring it becomes the route for a swim-run that turns the stations into gathering points.
